SWIM:  Lessons & Classes
Welcome Arlington Forest families to Tiger Lessons. Our swim lessons offer classes for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Please read the descriptions below; classes are divided by age and skill level. It is expected that swimmers will continue in the same level for more than one session. Swimmers will be divided into groups with others of similar swimming abilities. We are looking forward to a great summer!

Swim Lesson Levels
PreSchool (ages 3-6)
Nemos
This beginner level class requires no prior experience in swimming. Your little tigers will be introduced to and learn the skills that they need to become comfortable in water, develop the foundations of basic strokes and to be safe in the water. Your tigers get to play games and have a great time while learning, in a class of 6 tigers; grown-ups don’t get to join in, only cheering from the side. Little tigers will learn skills like blowing bubbles, putting their face in the water, submerging their heads underwater to retrieving toys from the bottom and floating on their fronts and backs without support.
Sea Turtles
This level class is for little tigers already comfortable in the water, able to put their head under water for 3 seconds and float (without support) Your little tigers will develop their basic strokes on their fronts and backs; torpedo glides, flutter kicks, scoops, reach and pulls and rhythmic breathing. Play will be the basis for skill development, encouraging confidence and love of the water and swimming. As students progress and improve, their skills and drills will progress appropriately.
Youth (ages 6-up)
Dolphins
This level is for school aged students who are comfortable in the water and ready to learn basic swimming skills or already can swim rudimentary strokes. Students will develop the basic skills needed to swim front crawl and backstroke and then to coordinate them. Skills covered will include: streamline, flutter kicks, breath control/rhythmic breathing, underwater stroke mechanics and out of water arm recovery.
Sharks
This level is for swimmers able to swim 5 yards(to the flags) of freestyle and backstroke. In this class the swimmers will continue to improve their technique, build endurance and also introduce breaststroke and butterfly. The correct diving technique will taught in the class. This class is recommended for children that successfully finished Dolphins level or children with previous swimming experience.
Stroke Clinic
This is our final level for children in the swim lesson program. Swimmers will continue to improve their technique in freestyle and backstroke and continue to learn breaststroke and butterfly. With added confidence and skills, their endurance will increase as well. This class is in place to make the children fully confident in their strokes by giving them more time to practice. This level is for swimmers interested in transitioning to swim team or just continuing in swimming to become strong confident swimmers.
