SWIM:  Lessons & Classes

Swim Lesson Levels

Nemos

This is the most basic level for children to learn to be comfortable and safe in the water. This level will focus on introduction to the water and learning to be safe and comfortable in the swimming pool. The class will feature activities like face in the water, wet the hair, blow bubbles and also have fun in the class with aquatic recreation, gain confidence and interest in swimming. We highly recommend this level for children who have never taken lessons, usually children between 3 and 5 years old.

Sea Turtles

In this class the teacher will introduce the exercises in the water that connect to freestyle and backstroke movements including floating, bubbles, and torpedoes. This level is recommended for children that are confident in the water but never had lessons and children that have taken and passed Nemos level. Being confident in the water means being able to put their head in the water and swimming and floating with assistance.

Dolphins

This group is for children that are able to swim on their own and that know the basic freestyle and backstroke skills. Kickboards will be used for better results, but not relied on. Breaststroke will be introduced in this class. This group is for children that already know basic skills for freestyle and backstroke and for children that have passed the Sea Turtles level. Children should be able to hold their breath for at least 4 seconds so that instructors will be able to teach them how to breathe while swimming freestyle. Swimmers should also be confident in the deep end to practice diving.

Sharks

In this class the swimmers will improve quality of movements in the backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke. This level will introduce the butterfly stroke. The correct diving technique will taught in the class. This class is recommended for children that successfully finished Dolphins level or children with previous swimming experience.

Stroke Clinic

This is our final level for children in the swim lesson program. This level is considered a transition between lessons and swim team. The children will learn to further improve their stroke and diving skills through drills. This class is in place to make the children fully confident in their strokes by giving them more time to practice.
