Matches:
AFC competes in the Northern Virginia Tennis League. Matches begin June 24 through and always take place on Wednesday mornings at 9am at either AFC or the opponent’s club. Weekly line ups will be announced Tuesdays at practice and relayed by the Team Rep to parents.
Matches include two singles matches and one doubles match in each of the following categories:
- 10 & Under
- 12 & Under
- 14 & Under
- 16 & Under
Team Snap:
Once you are enrolled in the summer team, the Team Rep will add you to the Team Snap roster where schedules, match day line ups, player availability, and announcements are posted.
Team Gear:
Team members will receive a team jersey (included in registration fee). Players should also bring their own racket, water, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, hard court shoes and shorts/skirt with pockets. The AFC Store will also have branded merch (optional).
Volunteer Responsibility:
We occasionally need parent volunteers to help with carpooling to matches, setting up match day hospitality, or team social events.
Juniors Team Practice & Match Schedule
*Families can choose 1 or 2 practices per week for Spring 1 and Spring 2 sessions. It is highly recommended that all Competitive Team players participate in at least one spring session in order to be ready for summer match play.
*Summer season is expected to end July 23, but if there are make-up matches due to weather, then the season could extend to July 29.

Adult Tennis Team
The Arlington Forest Club fields two teams in the Adult Divisions of the NVTL.
Arlington Forest Adult #1 Tennis Team
The AFC Adult #1 Team competes in the NVTL 8-A division, which consists of some very strong teams from the Northern Virginia area.
Arlington Forest Adult #2 Tennis Team
The AFC Adult #2 team plays in the NVTL 8-C league. Each week, two singles players and three doubles teams will compete.
Which Team Is Best for Me?
If you’re an NTRP 4.5 player or above (or a strong 4.0 player), then the #1 team is your choice (NTRP = National Tennis Rating Program). If you’re between a 3.5 and 4.0 player, then the #2 team is your best bet.
These are just recommended NTRP levels to let you know the level of competition to expect. They are not requirements to join either team.
Cost to join the team is $25. This covers NVTL fees, tennis balls, a t-shirt, and refreshments. Sign-ups will be available shortly.
